Greetings B & J!
So, because I’m visiting Liberia, one war-torn part of Africa, I”m totally excited about listening to Episode 132 where Joan interviews her daughter about a project that centers on Darfor - another sad part of the continent.
Sadly, the download link on iTunes only has about a minute’s worth of the podcast. What’s up with that?

Thanks…I’ll take this opportunity to say that while I’m currently challenged in getting the casts in their entirety, Ive really enjoyed the tack you and Joan have been taking recently. The focus on reflective practice, attention to meta-cognitive aspects of learning, and stretching our learning spheres is inspirational, thought-provoking, and stimulating. My Firefox 3 Bookmarks are on the increase, my Diigo is ablaze, I’m checking out workshops and trainings like the Puget Sound Peer-Coaching, and I’m happily spending my summer digg-ing deeper into several of the ideas posed in recent shows for use in my classroom this coming school year.
As always…you two are awesome! Thanks for helping me become a better learner and, therefore,a better teacher.

Me, Carole, again….
I do have a question about the Anticipation Guide Lesson. I’ve used anticipation guides as paper and pencil tools but not with my interactive white board as yet. I checked out the PDF lesson file and notice you have instructions to drag a “disagree” or “agree” into the response box for each question. I know this lesson features use of the Senteos so I’m confused as to how the response system functions with this instruction to drag. (My CPS system only allows for student input and no manipulation of the board.) What would each student be seeing as they respond “agree” or “disagree”? Does each option have a numbered equivalent that would be pressed on the keypad? Then, is there a numeric tally of each in the boxes on the board?

Hi Carole,
The agree and disagree elements that you drag were removed in the ‘SENTEO version’ of this file. The students respond ‘yes’ or ‘no’. Students don’t actually manipulate elements on the board. Then each anticipation guide statement has it’s own page that ‘tallies’ the results.
This isn’t the best solution (I prefer your tally idea) but is how I worked around the limitations.
